Training Program for Junior Diplomats from the Member States of the African Union

December 9-13, 2024, Ankara

The Mediation Training Program for junior diplomats from the Secretariat of the African Union (AU), the Secretariat of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), the Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of their member states was organized by the Diplomacy Academy in Ankara on December 9-13, 2024. A total of 15 diplomats, 1 from the IGAD Secretariat, 10 from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the AU Member States and 4 from our Ministry, participated in the program.

Within the framework of the program, comprehensive presentations were made by the Ministry officials and academics experienced in the field of mediation, as well as by Luca Willig, Head of the Mediation Program at the Swiss Center for Peace Studies (Swisspeace). Throughout the program, the participants had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge on mediation and conflict prevention through group workshops conducted by the trainers.
