Gambian Diplomats Training Program

October 23-30, 2016 Ankara, Istanbul

The Academy organized a training programme on 23-30 October 2016, Ankara and Istanbul for 5 senior and 5 junior Gambian Diplomats.

Starting with presentations on Turkey-Gambia Bilateral Relations, Turkish Foreign Policy towards the Africa, the programme for senior diplomats covered courses on Public Diplomacy, Cultural Diplomacy, Trade Promotion and Economic Diplomacy, Turkey’s Relations with the European Union, Turkish Foreign Policy towards the Middle East, Roles of International Organizations, Management of Diplomatic Missions, Diplomacy and Foreign Policy Making Process, International Law and Diplomacy whereas the programme for junior diplomats covers Diplomatic Correspondence and Language, Public Speaking, General Protocol Rules and Etiquettes, Roles of Consular Missions, Introduction to International Law, Introduction to Diplomacy: Theory and Practice. Moreover, both senior and junior participants benefitted from the courses on IT Technics and Operations of Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affaires and Multilateral Diplomacy, Negotiation Techniques and Mediation Skills. Also, Turkish Cooperation and Coodination Agency (TIKA) and Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities were paid a visit, where participants were delivered a presentation on TIKA’s organizational structure, duties and activities in Gambia.

Second part of the program, comprised historical, cultural and touristic visits in İstanbul. Within this framework, the guest diplomats visited  Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Museum, Turkish . Guest diplomats had also chance to have Bosphorus tour and visit Taksim-İstiklal Street.
